Sevanavank
Sevanavank is a historical complex located on the shore of Lake Sevan. Sevanavank Monastery was built in the 9th century on top of a hill, offering a magnificent view of Lake Sevan and the surrounding landscapes. It served as a religious and cultural center for many centuries. The monastery includes two churches — Surb Arakelots and Surb Astvatsatsin — as well as other buildings, such as cells and assembly halls. Besides the monastery, the remains of ancient defensive walls and towers can be seen on the territory of the Sevanavank complex. These structures testify to the strategic importance of this site and its military use in the past.
